New live account at eToro – the beginner friendly broker

Today I started a new account at eToro and immediately made a deposit of $50.

I had a demo account there about a year ago that I played with for a while.

eToro offers a quite unique graphical approach to forex trading. In contrast to Meta Trader based brokers you can not add any expert advisors and the available indicators are limited.

The first time I got my hands on Meta Trader I thought those issues were a disadvantage of eToro, but now that I have experienced my first margin call, and hopefully have learned a lesson or two, I actually think those missing ingredients are in favor of eToro.

eToro accepts credit cards as well as PayPal for deposits and they are regulated in both Europe and Asia. Their US branch is regulated by the NFA. There are so many scam rumors and stories around so initially you should definitively choose a regulated broker. As you gain a social network that you trust you could choose a non-regulated broker upon recommendation.

As far as I can tell from comments around the Net the money withdrawal process is straight forward and fast. eToro wants some means of identification to comply with EU regulations, but that is inline with the routines of every other broker I have glanced at.
